Required Member Education – trauma informed practice

As part of the amendments to the Health Professions Act last year, in the form of Bill 21: An Act to Protect Patients, education on trauma informed practice was mandated for all regulated members in Alberta.

Bill 21 is the piece of legislation that speaks specifically to sexual abuse and sexual misconduct perpetrated to patients by regulated members.  Our definition of a patient is currently included in the Standards of Practice.
