2021 CCP Validation Outcomes

Each year, denturists declare, at registration renewal, that they have completed their Continuing Competence Program (CCP) as required by the legislation and CCP Rules.  At renewal, the Registrar checks to make sure that denturists have entered enough hours into their profile to satisfy their obligation, but the CCP records are not reviewed.

The Registration Committee has now started to do a qualitative review of the CCP records for a random sample of denturists. This computer-generated sample is drawn earlier in the year and selected denturists are notified by email. The Registration Committee held the qualitative CCP Validation meeting on July 22, 2022.  This year the committee reviewed 10% (n=30) of denturists’ CCPs. There are two validation outcomes:

  1. Satisfactory (have met the minimum required submission)
  2. Unsatisfactory (have not met the minimum required submission)

Of those that are deemed satisfactory, there are two scenarios:

  • All records were deemed appropriate and contained sufficient proof (i.e., course certificate or self-reflection)
  • Not all records were deemed appropriate or contained sufficient proof, but the minimum requirement was met.

For those who were found to have an unsatisfactory validation result, they are given a chance to remediate their result by working with the Registrar to ensure their records meet the required standard.

The process for 2022 has concluded and everyone is now considered compliant. At the time of the validation process, the data was as follows:

Validation Status Number of Denturists
Satisfactory – All records accepted 25
Satisfactory – Not all records accepted 4
Unsatisfactory 1
