It’s renewal time again!

It’s hard to believe, but it is that time again!  All denturists have 2 months in which to renew their practice permit for 2023. Registration fees for 2023 have not changed and remain at $2595 + GST for 2023.

Renewal opens October 1 and goes through to November 30.  Please remember:

  • all current denturists who would like to continue to work as a denturist starting January 1, 2023, must renew their permit. If you are changing jobs or roles and aren’t sure if you still need to be registered, please contact the College.
  • in order to renew for 2023, you are required to have professional liability insurance for 2023. Please talk to you provider to ensure that your policy is renewed.
  • all regulated members are required to have current CPR in order to renew. This must have an in-person component for assessment of skills. If you have completed this, please ensure that your new certificate and dates are entered in your College profile.
  • This year, in order to update our database, you will be required to provide your retirement intentions (generally), the owner’s name of the clinic where you work, and your mobile phone number.
  • Your registration renewal application cannot be approved until all requirements for renewal have been met and received by the College – this includes receipt of funds payable for your registration fees. Please note that the College WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING CHEQUES for payment.

Please remember that the practice of denturism is not restricted to providing direct patient services, but includes the following:

  • designing, constructing, repairing, altering and fitting any complete or partial denture for the purpose of restoring and maintaining function and appearance;
  • teaching, managing and conducting research in the science, techniques and practice of denturism; or
  • providing restricted activities authorized by the regulations.

What if I don’t renew within the renewal window?

The renewal window closes at 11:59 p.m. on November 30, 2022.  Those who have not yet renewed will be subject to an additional administrative fee.  All renewals must be approved by the Registrar in order to have a valid practice permit on January 1, 2023.  Regulated members are reminded that the College will be closed over the holiday season and processing times will be slower.

Pursuant to the Health Professions Act (HPA), those who have not renewed by December 1, 2023, will be suspended, and receive a 30-day notice of suspension of their practice permit.

What if I don’t renew by December 31, 2022?

As per the HPA, your practice permit will be suspended, and you cannot practice. Those who are suspended, will have until January 31, 2023 to reinstate your practice permit with an additional administrative fee.  If you do not reinstate by this time, your practice permit will be cancelled. If you wish to practice, you will be required to complete a new application for registration. You will not be permitted to practice while the application is in process and until it is approved by the Registrar.

What if I don’t plan on working as a denturist in 2023?

If you are not planning on working in 2023 and would like to resign, please complete the resignation form prior to November 30, 2022.  The resignation form may be found at this link: Resignation Form.
