Council Connection

In each issue of bytes, the College is going to be providing updates on what is going on around the Council table. Below you will find highlights of Council work and decisions as well as any governance changes that have arisen over the previous few months.

• Over the last couple months, the College has undergone some changes in governance.
  • We would like to share that Mike Galye has left Council to explore other opportunities. Council and staff would like to extend our gratitude to Mike for the time he spent working with Council over the last 3 ½ years.
  • Fulfilling the balance of Mike’s term, to December 2025, as per the Bylaws, Council has appointed Satpreet (Sunny) Grewal. Sunny comes to Council with a wealth of governance and practice experience. Welcome Sunny!
• Council continues to work through the selection process for a new Council member for a term starting January 1, 2024. More information will be shared as soon as it is available.
• As explained in this issue of bytes, Council approved the College’s inaugural Strategic Plan. Management is working through this to operationalize Council’s direction.
• Council repealed the COVID-19 Guidance documents for denturists that have been in effect since early 2020.
• When Council met in September, they discussed and decided to lower the practice permit fee for denturists to $2450 (plus GST). This is effective for the 2024 registration year.
