This year, the College instituted its first validation process for the Continuing Competence Program (CCP). Each year, denturists declare, at registration renewal, that they have completed their CCP as required by the legislation and CCP Rules. At renewal, the Registrar checks to make sure that denturists have entered enough hours into their profile to satisfy their obligation, but the CCP records are not reviewed.
The Registration Committee has now started to do a qualitative review of the CCP records for a random sample of denturists. This computer-generated sample is drawn earlier in the year and selected denturists are notified by email. This year, on July 9, 2021, the committee reviewed 7% (n=21) of denturists’ CCPs. There are two validation outcomes:
Of those that are deemed satisfactory, there are two scenarios:
For those who were found to have an unsatisfactory validation result, they are given a chance to remediate their result by working with the Registrar to ensure their records meet the required standard.
As this process is recent, it is still ongoing, but the College wanted to share some preliminary data with you. Of those that were selected:
| Validation Status |
Number of Denturists |
| Satisfactory – All records accepted |
11 |
| Satisfactory – Not all records accepted |
7 |
| Unsatisfactory |
3 |
All selected denturists are being notified by email with next steps, if any. If you were selected for the validation, but have not yet received your result email, please contact Dacia at drichmond@abdenturists.ca.
