Upcoming Council Vacancy for 2024

Council will have a vacancy for a regulated member effective January 1, 2024. The process to become a Council member has changed over the last couple of years and now involves a few steps as Council has shifted their recruitment to use a competency-based process.

This process allows Council to identify competencies, required to be an effective Council member, that are present at a lower level in the existing Council and work to actively bring people on that possess these attributes. A Selection Committee, composed of both Council and regulated members evaluates the self-assessments provided by each current Council member, does a gap analysis and determines what competencies they would see a new Council member having the most impact with. Once this analysis is complete, the College will be sending out a notice to all regulated members with an invitation to apply.

The selection committee will then review all applications with a lens to the gap analysis. If there is more than one applicant that would fulfill the gap, the committee will present this to Council and an election will take place. This, as in the recent past, will be conducted online with regulated members receiving communication about the process directly from the company managing the process. If an election is required, the candidate with the most votes will be selected as the new Council member.

Any regulated members in good standing are encouraged to become involved in this way. The College Bylaws explain the eligibility and exclusion criteria:

Every regulated member who meets the following is eligible to be a Council member:

  • is registered on the College’s General Register
  • has a minimum of three years of regulated denturist practice
