Labour mobility

Denturists must be registered in each province in which they work. As the market opens up, denturists are moving between provinces for different employment and business opportunities.  As we are aware, the scope of practice in each province differs from the next.

Currently, the College is investigating ways in which we can protect the interest of Albertans receiving denturist care, in spite of these differences in scope.  There are currently no regulatory mechanisms to address these.

That being said, the College is aware that that there is new labour mobility legislation being contemplated by the current Alberta government that would reduce barriers for certified and regulated health professions in moving between provinces.  The College does not have any details on what this may look like and awaits the next sitting of the legislative assembly to see what this new legislation brings.
