The College exists so that Albertans can be assured of receiving high quality and ethical denturist services. Through regulation, the public is protected, and members are advised and guided on what is and is not acceptable in their practice as well as actions that are required of them by law.
This year, the College has published three practice guidelines for members
Advertising Guidelines
Advertising is the way in which many prospective patients hear about a denture clinic. As such, it is imperative that there are rules surrounding the messaging that reaches the patient. Council has recently approved amendments to the Advertising policy that updates the College’s position and aligns with other regulatory decisions that have been upheld in a court of law.
Please ensure that you are familiar with the updated Advertising Guidelines.
Mandatory Reporting Guidelines
All members have a legislated responsibility to report themselves or other regulated healthcare professionals (from any College) in certain circumstances. This varies from an employer terminating or suspending a regulated employee, for something that is deemed under the law to be unprofessional conduct, to self-reporting regarding an allegations or proven charges of sexual abuse and/or sexual misconduct. There are many touch points in between.
It is your responsibility to understand this law, set by government, and so ensure that you review the Mandatory Reporting Guidelines.
Guidelines for the Conduct of Regulated Members towards Patients
Unfortunate events happen. We, as regulated health professionals, need to understand how we can avoid these situations and not put ourselves, our patient or our colleagues in harm’s way.
Please review these guidelines to ensure the safe of your patients and yourself.
