PLI Certificate Required at Renewal

For each year that a denturist holds registration and a practice permit with the College, they are also legally required to hold professional liability insurance (PLI). In the past, the College brokered this PLI for denturists and so monitored compliance.

As we move through the requirements of Bill 46, it is unlawful for a College to narrow the choices of a regulated member to only one policy. As such, denturists have the choice as to from whom they source their PLI. As we transitioned to this model, the College granted some grace to denturists and asked for a declaration at renewal that they have procured PLI for the upcoming year, and then we validated this in the first couple months of the year. This allowed insurers and the insured time to get their certificates in order.

Now that the current systems have been in place for a few years, the College will be changing this process. We are still working through the logistical details, but denturists will have to provide a copy of their PLI certificate for the year for which they are renewing, at renewal.  An application for renewal will not be approved without it.

Please watch your email for how this will be accomplished as the information becomes available.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the College.
