WHMIS Requirement

Federal and provincial legislation requires that employers provide WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information System) education to their employees if there is the use of controlled products in the workplace.

Controlled products include compressed gases and materials which are flammable, combustible, oxidizing, poisonous, infectious, corrosive, and/or dangerously reactive.

Examples of controlled products that may be used in a denture clinic or lab include methyl methacrylate monomer and compressed gases such as natural gas or acetylene.

Please remember that denturists can use WHMIS training towards their Continuing Competence Program requirements.
